suvereto (beginning of december)
Suvereto is an ancient mediaeval village rising on the hills not far from the sea.
Since 1969 the village has hosted the festival of Suvereto in the first half of December every year.
Cultural initiatives, shows, exhibitions, tours of the local cuisine and folklore all blend in a rich and varied program.
The mediaeval castle, the narrow lanes, the town-hall, the fort, the cloister of St Francis, the walls, the towers and
the roman church of St Giusto provide an atmospheric background to high-quality shows recalling present and past times.
The historical parade and the performances by the flag-wavers of Suvereto are very evocative.
In the middle of the village a big grill is set up to cook tasty meat. The wild boar reigns supreme in the local cooking especially in the most traditional dishes.
Other characteristic dishes can be tasted in the open air or in restaurants that take part in the festival.
