First held in 1929 this was a foot-race between the districts of Cecina. Nowadays Targa Cecina focuses on a parade of allegorical floats but it hasn't lost the meaning of its origins.
People from every local district create a float to support their representative athletes who compete to win the "targa".
It is an explosion of creativeness and fantasy.
Every district organises shows, dances and parades in harmony with the themes of the allegorical floats all making up a happy summer carnival to the success of which all the inhabitants of Cecina contribute.
